Prof. Denis Cavallucci ( INSA-Strasbourg, France)

How TRIZ can contribute to a paradigm change in R&D practices

INSA-Strasbourg is Graduate School of Applied Science and Technology, where an Advanced Master Course in Innovative Design has been established to do research and education in the field of TRIZ.  Prof. Cavallucci is one of the leaders of the course.  He is one of the five co-founders of ETRIA (European TRIZ Association) and was its second President.  His group has introduced OTSM-TRIZ and further developed it into the Inventive Design Method (IDM). They intend to integrate IDM into the R&D practices in industries and do much collaborative work between academia and industry.

Second day morning

Abstract

Note:  We received a news from Dr. Cavallucci on Jun.14 that he has been promoted this year from Associate Professor to Full Professor at INSA Strasbourg.  Congratulations!!  We are going to update his title.  (Jun. 15, 2012)

Note: The "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" Foundation (Toru Nakagawa) has announced that its Award is going to be presented to Professor Denis Cavallucci for his contributions to TRIZ over many years.  The Award Presentation Ceremony will be held at the time of Buffet Dinner & Communications on the second day evening of the TRIZ Symposium.   (Aug. 1, 2012)

Special Invited Lecture
Prof. Kenichi Yumino (President of Japan Creativity Society; Emer. Prof. of Shizuoka Univ.) Educating Creativity: Making the foundation for disseminating creation techniques

Professor Yumino has been working for creativity education throughout his life and is currently the President of JCS.  After many years of research and education, he realizes that the most basic and deep problem in Japanese education is the too-much emphasis of 'Manabi: Learning' against 'Tsukuri: Creation'.  Creation needs efforts for overcoming errors through its long process of thinking and practice. He advocates to make more chances of 'Tsukuri' in school and university education.

[Note: Prof. Yumino's short talk in a discussion has been posted in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" (Jul. 3, 2012)]

First day late afternoon

Abstract

Special Invited Talk Dr. Jeongho Shin (eTRIZ, Korea)

How to learn TRIZ with ease and fun

Last November at ETRIA TFC 2011, Dr. Shin gave an amusing presentation, and we have decided to invite him on the topic. He made 'Invention Song' by incorporating 8 TRIZ Inventive Principles with the melody of 'Do-Re-Mi Song'. It has become a very pleasant song having verses in Korean, in English, and in Chinese. ==> We have just prepared its Japanese version.(Aug. 1, 2012) ==> See Note below (Aug. 31, 2012#)

Second day morning

Abstract

Note (Aug. 31, 2012, Program Chairperson Toru Nakagawa):

Even though there are many  'parody songs' (i.e. singing different words on the original melody) in the world, officially speaking in terms of the Copyrights laws, we have found as follows: In the cases when the new words have not got permitted by the copyright owner of the original song (both words and melofy), the new words  must not be published, recorded, taken in video, nor presented in record or video; but it is allowed to sing the new words in groups and in public on the original melody, without taking its record or video.

Thus, we Symposium organizers and Dr. Shin have agreed to do as follows: (a) The words of Invention Song in any language will not be published in the Proceedings; (b) In the presentation, no form of record nor video of the Invention song on thr melody of Do-Re-Mi Song will be provided. (c) The Words of Invention Song will be shown in a separate slide, and let's sing it together on the melody of Do-Re-Mi song, as arranged by the Symposium organizers under an official permission   (d) Anybody should not record or video of our singing. Since the Invention song is an easy and pleasant song, let's sing it joyfully together!

Note:  Concerning to the category of Dr. Shin's talk, we once wrote it as a Keynote (on Apr. 27) but have decided to describe it as a 'Special Invited Talk'.  Both of them are Invited talks, but more specifically we would like to categorize them as: Keynote is 'a significant lecture of original work which is expected to give influence on and lead the TRIZ methodology and the TRIZ community in Japan' while Special Invited Talk/Lecture is 'a significant presentation or lecture of original work which is relevant to the topic in focus of the Symposium'.  We apologize Dr. Shin for any inconvenience which might be caused by our initial careless use of category names. (T. Nakagawa, Jun. 11, 2012)  (Jun. 15, 2012)
