The 7th TRIZ Symposium in Japan 2011 was held with 115 participants (including 104 from Japan and 11 from overseas (containing 2 graduate students staying in Japan)). Rich contents of presentations, intimate discussions, and frank & friendly communications have made the Symposium a big success. We are very happy to have achieved this after 6 months since the 3.11 Earthquake & Tsunami Disaster and Nuclear Plant Accident. We thank all the presenters, participants, volunteer translators/interpreters, and also management members of JTS for their contributions and cooperation. We especially thank Simon Litvin and other people coming from overseas.
The First day was a 'Seminar Day': (A) In Japanese, we had a Tutorial (by Yoshihisa Konishi), and 5 Special-Interest Lectures (by Osamu Kumasaka, Kiyoshi Shikakura, Teruyuki Kamimura, Masatoshi Hotta, and Toru Nakagawa, respectively). (B) In English, an Advanced Seminar was given by Simon Litvin on the topic of "GEN3: ID" for net 6 hours.
The Second and the Third days were 'Conference Days'. Keynote Lecture was delivered by Simon Litvin on "Main Parameters of Value (MPV): Connecting Business Challenges to Technical Problems", while Invited Lecture by Shunsuke Suzuki on "Equivalent Transfer Thinking" (i.e. a Japanese origin inventive methodology). Contributed papers were given in either Oral (double track, 40 minutes each) or Poster (6 posters in parallel for 80 minutes per session) Presentations. We had 19 Oral presentations (including 4 from overseas) and 12 Poster presentations (including 3 from overseas). Besides the lectures & presentations, we had the good opportunities of discussions and communications during 'Buffet Dinner & Communication', 'Group Discussions' in 6 groups in parallel, and 'Pre Session for self-introduction'. We believe intimate and close human networks have been created and enhanced throughout the Symposium.
Proceedings and Seminar materials were published and handed out in Print and/or in Digital format. Presentation slides will be posted in our Web sites (i.e., JTS Official HP and "TRIZ HP in Japan") step by step from now on. It is our desire and hope to share TRIZ information and activities with people in the world.
In this page, we have posted the Opening Address by Toshihiro Hayashi (Chairperson of the Board of JTS), Results of the participants voting for "Best Presentation for Me", Summary of the Participants Answers to the Questionnaires, etc.

Participants' Answers to the Questionnaires
During the Symposium all the participants were asked to answer to the Questionnaires about their impressions, evaluations, comments, etc. Main points are summarized in the following graphs:
The first 4 graphs show high (or rather high) evaluation for all the four aspects of the present Symposium, to our pleasure. In the 5th graph participants' preferences for our next Symposium are shown. Most people prefer a venue in the city part convenient for commuting from home (i.e., in Tokyo metropolitan area). Preference of 'Sept. 6-8, 2012' to 'Aug. 30 - Sept. 1, 2012' is clear, rather unexpectedly for us organizers.
Some more details are posted in the Japanese page in PDF
. Thanks to the participants for their valuable comments, which will be reflected in our future Symposium and JTS activities.
Just after the Symposium, we asked all the presenters (from Japan and overseas) and organizing members for answering detailed Questionnaires. 18 people (including 4 from overseas) have kindly delivered us with their valuable comments and suggestions, which we have reviewed and will reflect in our future activities. Thanks.
