Bill Fowlkes (USA) ==> TN     May 1, 2020     Some comments on reviewing the World WTSP Catalogs

I decide to start by reviewing closely what is already published and maybe improve some things there.
In World WTSP TRIZ Sites Basic Catalog :

(1) The links for TN 2F-04 and RUL-12 are broken. Same issue in both. The https: in the URL needs to be changed to http: (drop the s in https://).
(2) Question: Why is TN2A-12 in the WTSP (A0) World TRTR Sites table? Wikipedia appears later and seems out of place here.
(3) Table (f) is entitled Publisshing organizations. Please change to Publishing organizations (correct the double s)

And two more from Around TRIZ catalog :

(4) TN3E-01 link is broken. Same issue as above. The https: in the URL needs to be changed to http: (drop the s in https://).
(5) TN3E-17 IEEE Explore is a publishing firm and should be moved to table (f) Publishing organizations

I'll be back later with some new content and my thoughts about the SIG. Regards, Bill

  TN  ==> Bill Fowlkes    May 2, 2020

Thank you for your notice. I have checked them all and have just updated my Web site.

(1) Issue of https://

I corrected them all.
Origin of the errors: When the site domain is shown such as www.xxx, I attached the protocol https:// without checking one by one. Most of the sites allow to use it, but some don't. So there may be various other sites showing the same error.
Since it is hard for me to check all the sites, I will make a note on this error and its way of recovery in the Q&A page.

(2) TN3A-12 Wikipedia:

This site is shown at the bottom of (A0) Catalog, and again in the (f3) section of (A) Catalog.
This is correct. (A0) shows the sites at the evaluation level ◎, while (A) shows the sites at the level of ◎ and ○.

(3) TN3E-17 IEEE Explore.

I have corrected its Roles as:
(d4) Academic societies, (f3) Repository, (g3) Knowledge sharing, (e1) Method developers
==> (f3) Repository, (g3) Knowledge sharing, (d4) Academic societies, (e1) Method developers
In the Catalogs (A) and (C), all the sites are arranged according to the (principal) Role of the site, i.e., the first item listed in the Role of each site.
Thus the TN3E-17 site is moved from the (d4) section to the (f3) section.

(4) Typos, spelling errors, and grammatical errors.

These are my mistakes and difficulties for me.
In MS Word and Thunderbird, I am using the auto spelling check function, but in Adobe Dreamweaver (CS 5.5) spelling check need to be done as a batch process after setting up the whole manuscripts.
Sorry for not high quality of my site in this regard. I will be more careful and do the spelling check more often. Thank you for your pointing out my typos.

Thank you very much for your cooperation,
Best wishes, Toru

[1] Lecture: Unlock Your Creative Genius with These Habits (Keith Sawyer, USA)
This article is taken from the YouTube video of Professor Keith Sawyer's talk given at Future Frontiers 2017 event. I was guided to Prof. Sawyer's work through Ed Sickafus' USIT NewsLetters, and encountered the video. I transcribed the speech into English text and further translated it into Japanese. I am posting here the lecture text both in English and in Japanese

[2] Forum: COVID-19 Pandemic: For Overcoming the Global Crisis:  Index page (Toru Nakagawa)
I have started this page in Japanese. Even though I am not at all a specialist in this field, I would like to introduce various sites of information sources and activities which I noticed.
A. (Government) Information and data in Japan:
B. Information and data in the world:
C. Private sites for Information sending, opinions, proposals: HP of Prof. Sinya Yamanaka (Nobel Laureate),
HP of Toshio Hirano (Former President of Osaka Univ.), Proposal for Overcoming COVID-19 by Toshio Hirano and 7 more big names (Apr. 28, 2020) (This is the most comprehensive, important document of proposal at the present stage in Japan, I think.)
D. Scientific introductions and papers:

I hope that I have done this more or less well and that it did not take too long.  File attached ==>
As I encounter additional sites in my work I will add them to the list.

Regards, and stay safe! Bill

  TN  ==> Bill Fowlkes    May 14, 2020

Dear Bill, Thank you so much for the list of TRIZ and Around-TRIZ sites. Your contribution is very valuable for our project.
Now I am busy to write and submit a paper to ETRIA TFC 2020. Next week I will review your list and the sites and will post your list in our WTSP pages in my Web site.
Thanks and best wishes, Toru

TN  ==> Bill Fowlkes    May 20, 2020       Thanks. After eliminating the duplication, 6 new sites will be included

(1) Thank you for your list of sites for the WTSP Catalogs. I checked the site quickly for eliminating duplications with our previous Catalogs. Please see the attached Excel file.
There are 6 new sites, in the yellow cells of Site name.
I am going to post your manuscripts as an example of active contribution.
==> See: WTSP Catalog Data: X2TL: 'Tools' SIG (Bill Fowlkes) (May 25, 2020)

(2) I have just submitted our paper to ETRIA TFC2020 Conference.
I cite your message in the paper, because it's so valuable for our project.

Thanks. Best wishes, Toru

  TN  ==> WTSP Global Co-editors   [WTSP] Letter (19M-1G)       May 21, 2020

As you see in the message from TFC2020 Easychair, I have submitted our WTSP paper to ETRIA TFC2020.   Submission #79

As I wrote in the paper, our focus of WTSP should be:

(1) Get attractive & useful Site Introductions of excellent sites.
Please write such a Site Introduction of YOUR OWN SITES.

(2) Form WTSP Teams in various countries and get good coordinators (i.e., Country Editors and SIG Editors).
Please communicate with your colleags in YOUR COUNTRIES, etc. to form such Teams and get voluntary Coordinators.

This is a difficult time of the pandemic for you and for us all.
But in a sense, many TRIZ colleags may be forced to stay home due to their business events cancelled and have some spare time to write site introductions and manuscripts for WTSP Catalogs.

I updated my HP on May 10, though not announced in English (because the main article is for the Japanese people). I am going to update it again in a few days.

Best wishes, Toru

COVID-19 Pandemic has been giving tremendous damage to the whole world. We hope and fight for overcoming it by all the efforts and cooperation of people over the world !!!

I have updated "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" and our WTSP site inside it, on May 10 and tonight (May 25).

[1] Lecture: Creativity Process: "Unlock Your Creative Genius with These Habits" (Keith Sawyer(UNC, Chapel Hill))

This article is taken from the YouTube video of Professor Keith Sawyer's talk given at Future Frontiers 2017 event.
I transcribed the speech into English text and further translated it into Japanese. Under the permission by Prof. Sawyer and FF, I am posting the lecture text both in English and in Japanese.

"Creativity is not mysterious. You all can master it as habits and unlock your creativity genius." is his message. It is a very well-prepared, excellent talk.
He talks about the Creative Process, as a life-long process where we wander around while encountering many different small ideas and searching and seeking for something we do not know well at first.

He did not mention any 'structured process of creative problem solving'.   At various points on the Jig-Zag way of creative process (in Sawyer's sense) we can apply 'Structured' creative problem solving methods effectively and successfully.
While noting this point, we wish to get the mind-set/practices/habits for the non-linear Creativity Process, advised here by Professor Sawyer. We will certainly be able to unlock our own Creative Genius.

[2] COVID-19 Pandemic: For Overcoming the Global Crisis: (Toru Nakagawa)

We have submitted our WTSP Paper to ETRIA TFC 2020.

We should work on 2 tasks right now:

Please communicate with your colleagues in YOUR COUNTRIES, or YOUR OWN TOPIC of INTEREST to form such Teams and get voluntary Coordinators.

Toru Nakagawa ==> WTSP Members & TRIZ Colleags   May 28, 2020    [WTSP] Letter: (19GC-2)  Request for your contribution to World WTSP Catalogs   (Posted Jun. 15 2020)

Hello, how are you, your family, and people in your country?
I am sending this email to about 110 TRIZ Leaders/Colleagues in the world, including WTSP Global Co-editors, Country Editors, and possible Country Editors, for asking your voluntary cooperation for further proliferation of TRIZ and related methodologies.
The same contents are sent in 4 emails to the regions: A (Europe, 43), B (Russia, 12), CD (Mid-East and Asia, 32), EFGH (Oceania, N. America, C.& S. America, Africa, 25)

(1) We have built and publicized World WTSP Catalogs of TRIZ Sites and Around-TRIZ Sites (Oct. 2019 Edition).
See: www.osaka-gu.ac.jp/php/nakagawa/TRIZ/eTRIZ/eWTSP/

They are much much better than any ordinary internet surveys, in the aspects of coverage/selection of sites, and the introductions of individual sites.
The project outputs, i.e. Catalogs, and the processes for building/updating them are made clear and well documented.

(2) However, we need to enhance the WTSP Catalogs much to get the evaluation and usage by many people in the world as attractive and useful information source for TRIZ and Around-TRIZ methodologies.

We must meet 3 criteria from users' points of view.
(a) Coverage and good selection (= evaluation) of Attractive and Useful sites all over the world.
(b) Attractive and useful introduction of individual sites (for users).
(c) Easy access to the Catalogs and to the sites of some categories desired by the users.

(3) Since there are hundreds of good sites, each having hundreds of articles, in the world, the tasks to meet (a)(b)(c) are really big.

However, the tasks are dividable into smaller ones, because every good site is edited and operated individually by some site owner. Such site owners can work individually and in parallel, following the WTSP examples and guidelines which are established already.

Evidently, we need help and collaboration by many people, i.e., all the owners of good sites in the world and some more people who coordinate the people and their tasks.

(4) All of YOU are TRIZ Leaders/Colleagues in various countries and in various specialties.

We suppose YOU are site owners or are involved in some good TRIZ-related sites, which you are proud of.
So please (b) write an introduction of YOUR OWN SITE(s) and (a) contribute it to the WTSP Catalogs, (c) with proper instruction of site categorization.

Since YOU are TRIZ Leaders/Colleagues influential in your country (or globally) and in your specialty, please serve as (one of) Coordinators.
Dividing the tasks is simple and semi-automatic in our case, but coordinating the individual tasks and several (or several tens of) people can be done only under good leadership by some leaders/colleagues like YOU in each community.
Getting Coordinators is the crucial issue for our WTSP project. Please communicate with various leaders/colleagues in your country (or specialty) and form a WTSP Team.

(5) We know you are extremely busy in your business and many more official duties.
Please find slots of time for introducing your own site and for encouraging/coordinating your leaders/colleagues to enhance the World WTSP Catalogs.
Please be confident that we all, TRIZ community in the world, can make the World WTSP Catalogs really attractive and useful for users. And that your own sites, together with others, are referred and used much by users and that the TRIZ and relevant methodologies get more familiar and used by many people in the world.

(6) Let us be practical.

(b) Please write an introduction of your site in the WTSP Standard format (attached): for ◎○□ sites and also in a free format (about 2-5 pages): for ◎〇 sites.

(a) Please list up recommended sites (in your country/specialty): in the WTSP template (.xlsx, attached): for ◎○□ sites.

Note: ◎:Most important in the World (about top 30)
○: Important in the World (about top 100)
□:Worthy in the World WTSP Catalogs
△:Worthy in the Country WTSP Catalogs

Our focus at moment is on ◎○□ sites.
But we are going to include at least one site in every country.

Please send these manuscripts to TRIZ leaders/colleagues in your country/specialty (listed or not in this email address) and also to the Project Leader (Toru Nakagawa).
These manuscripts will be accepted at any time and posted in the WTSP Site as soon as possible.
The ones received by June 20, 2020 will be integrated in the Jun. 2020 Edition of the WTSP Catalogs.

Let's work Together ! Connected !!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes, Toru

Toru Nakagawa ==> LinkedIn Posting    May 29, 2020

Dear TRIZ Leaders and Colleagues all over the world:
Please contribute to World WTSP Catalogs for making them more attractive and useful for users

==>  See the posting in a separate page:

Zulhasni Abdul Rahim (Malaysia, LinkedIn) ==> TN May 31, 2020

I suggest we should focus on system based improve, instead of human based barrier. We also need a better pulling factor to invite more contribution and collaboration from others. Instead of going for numers 14,000+, maybe we start with 5-10 high quality partners and projects. I love to hear from you about collaboration proposal or projects on TRIZ.

TN ==> Zulhasni Abdul Rahim May 31, 2020

Thank you, Dear Zulhasni. I sent the email originally on May 28 to 110 'TRIZ Leaders and Colleagues' in the world. And then posted it here in LinkedIn for asking collaborations by many more 'TRIZ Leaders and Colleagues', just like you. I hope you and many 'TRIZ Leaders and Colleagues' to contribute to the WTSP Catalogs as I write in my email.

--- However, more important issue is to get collaborations by 'Ordinary Users and Readers in TRIZ (and related methodologies)', just like over 14,000 members in the 'TRIZ and Innovation' Group in LinkedIn. What shall we ask them for achieving the goals of WTSP? How can such Ordinary Users effectively contribute to the enhancement of the World WTSP Catalogs? I am thinking that recommending their favorite sites in their countries (or globally) and ask the site owners of such sites to write (close) site introductions may be a solution. But again, we need to have some coordinators for handling such recommendations. I wish some people, 'TRIZ Leaders/Colleagues' or 'TRIZ Users/Readers', would play such roles voluntarily.
