191 Top S [In the top figure: Sub-levels of substance is shown at the top and the Super-Super System at the bottom.] [It is much more natural to draw them in the reverse order.]
191 b3 Q between the laws of technology and engineering. between the laws of life and engineering.
194 13 E designing his termenvox (electric musical instrument) L S. Termen faced designing his termenvox (electric musical instrument) L. S. Termen faced

196 b19 Q The creek begins to flow over the shorter sides of the brick. The creek begins to flow around the shorter sides of the brick. [This part is not clear enough.]
198 t23 Q The laser ray of light is refracted passing through the holographic plate [Is the word "refracted" appropriate?]

Chapter 9 (Questions/Comments by Nakagawa and Answers by Souchkov)

P L E/Q/C Is Has to be [or Question] Answer
190 t14 S One trend in technical systems evolution via idealization is One trend in technical systems evolution for idealization is ok.
191 top S [in the figure]
[top: Sub-levels of substance,
bottom: Super-super System]
[Reverse the order of the items in the figure.] ok.
191 b5-6 Q the prototypes of modern apparatuses are among the most ancient organisms and elementary 'subsystems' of the present-day fauna. [Difficult to understand this sentence. What scale of organisms and subsystems do you mean here?] the prototypes of modern apparatuses are among the most ancient living organisms (bacteria) and elementary 'subsystems' (cells) of the present-day fauna.
191 b3 E/S no direct analogy can be drawn between the laws of technology and engineering; no direct analogy can be drawn between the laws of life and the laws of engineering; yes
191 b1 E The law of transition to a supersystem is one of such trends. The law of transition to a supersystem is one of such trends. yes
192 t1-2 S Let us see how this law manifests itself in the evolution of engineering (Figure 40). Let us see how this law manifests itself in the evolution of technical systems (see Figure in page 193). yes
194 t10-11 Q Hitting the outside sheet, the bullet tumbled or broke against the asymmetrical lines of the puncture. [I do not understand the latter part of this sentence. What is the puncture? what is the asymmetric line?] Hitting the outside sheet, the bullet started tumbling between the two sheets and even could be broken due to the asymmetrical shape of the hole made by the bullet in the outside sheet.
196 b21-19 Q/C You lay one brick so that its longer side blocks the water stream. The creek begins to flow over the shorter sides of the brick. [I feel it strange when you say the sides are long/short. "flow around" instead of "flow over"?] Yes, "flow around" here is correct.
197 b16-15 Q so that their vertical planes face one another and their focal points are displaced. [What are vertical planes? Are they "normal lines"?] The reflectors are placed so that their vertical surfaces are parallel and face one another
198 t17-18 Q becomes transparent under electric potential; artificial crystalline lens. [How is the "artificial crystalline lens" related to the preceding sentence? Does it explains the preceding lens? Or is it a completely different item?] Artificial crystalline lens are further evolution of the preceding lens: instead of two components (lens and crystalline layer) now we have only crystalline substance.
199 t7-8 Q/S when her main shaft driving the cylinders of the steam engine broke suddenly. when her main shaft driven by the cylinders of the steam engine broke suddenly. yes
199 b21-20 Q with the purpose of increasing the deflection of the screw, [What screw is this? Or are you talking about this spring itself?] spring, yes.
199 b20-16 Q For equal carrying capacity, the internal sides of coils of smaller diameter are cut along a longitudinal plane; the cross section of their cut decreases down to the diameter of the spring coil. [I do not understand these sentences, even though I think I understand the structure of the spring. How about the following:]
The internal sides of coils of larger diameter are cut along a longitudinal plane; the cross section of their cut decreases down according to the diameter of the spring coil.
Yes, precisely.
200 t1-2 S lead it through all stages of bi-system evolution procedure. lead it through all stages of bi-system evolution process. yes
200 b16-15 Q treatment of optics (glass, earthware, crystals) by adhesive bonding of thin items into one slab; [Is the word "optics" correct? For what purpose of treatment is this?] A method for mechanical treatment of thin optical components (glass, earthware, crystals) by adhesive bonding of the thin components into one slab.

For instance, how to polish the sides of a thin glass plate with the abrasive disk? The plate will break. However, if we bond many plates together, the resulting surface to be treated will increase and the whole slab will not break.

200 b13 S Transition to a poly-system with biased characteristics: Transition to a poly-system with biased characteristics (Step 3.1.2): yes
200 b5 S Examples of partially convoluted poly-systems: [Before this paragraph, it should be desirable to show examples of Step 3.2.1 and 3.2.2.]
Examples of partially convoluted poly-systems (Step 3.3):
yes

3.2.1: Crayons; microchip (consist of heterogeneous components).

3.2.2: Chess; a connector consisting of two parts, where matching pins and openings can have different geometry to fix the parts correctly.

201 t7 S In this instance, the age-old of cleaning filters In this instance, the age-old problem of cleaning filters yes
201 b9-7 S The two components will have identical properties if the width difference of the second component The two components in the figure will have identical properties if the thickness difference of the second component yes
203 b22-21 Q (with one power unit, radio channel, signal processor) [Is the word "radio channel" appropriate here?] It is ok in Russian, but probably not in English (although I am not sure): I would say here "broadband transmission channel"

P L E/Q/C Is Has to be [or Question] Answer
208 b3-2 Q The precision of the cut and the width of the slit depend on the tension in the thread (it does not deflect this way). [I do not understand the sentence in ( ). What is "it" and what is "this way"?] The thread does not deflect under these conditions since the precision of the cut and the width of the slit depend on the tension in the thread.
209 t8-9 Q Till present the results were estimated in the following way: [Do you mean "the results of blasting"? For what purpose were the results estimated? ] To crash the ground rock, blasting has been used in mining for more than 300 years. Till present the results of blasting were
