Editor's Note (Toru Nakagawa, Nov. 22, 2000)

As introduced in the parent page, Salamatov's TRIZ Textbook has just been published in Japanese by translating from the English Edition. During this translation work, Errata of and Questions & Answers on the English Edition were compiled and documented. Since these documents should be useful for many readers of this well-adopted textbook of TRIZ, they are posted here in collaboration of Insytec and the Japanese translation team.

Here are descriptions how to read the tables of these three documents, illustrated with a small number of examples.

(1) Errata compiled by Souchkov:

These Errata were compiled by Valeri Souchkov for a future revised edition and provided on Mar. 16, 2000 for the work of the Japanese Edition. More than 120 items are listed in the tabular form as illustrated below. In addition, Souchkov has inserted a few tens of examples to illustrate Inventive Standards in Appendix (B), though they are not posted here.

In the "has to be" column, the corrected words/phrases are highlighted in blue color. Souchkov's comments (i.e. not intended to be the texts) are marked with red color.

(2) Errata pointed out by Nakagawa

These Errata were compiled by Toru Nakagawa in collaboration with the members of Mitsubishi Research Institute and sent to Souchkov on July 7, 2000. More than 180 items are pointed out (without repeating Souchkov's Errata); almost all of them are minor and trivial ones. Souchkov pproved them as a whole, without answering to individual items.

Locations are specified with the page numbers and the line numbers (either from the top (t) or from the bottom (b), counting a figure as a line if necessary). [Page numbers for the Appendix B refer to Souchkov's new version (though not published yet).] Items are classified roughly as: E: Error (simple mistype and trivial error), Q: Question (questions on meaning of words/phrases and on the intention of the author, etc.), C: Comments (comments from a different view, etc.), S: Suggestion (suggestions for revising/improving the text). In the columns "is" and "Has to be", our comments (including questions, comments, suggestions, explanations, etc.) are described in [ ], for clarifying them not meant for the texts.

(3) Questions and Comments by Nakagawa and Answers by Souchkov

These Questions and Comments were compiled by Toru Nakagawa in Collaboration with the members of MRI and sent ot Souchkov chapter by chapter from July 29 to September 15, 2000. Answers to these Questions and Comments were written by Souchkov for all the items and sent back to Nakagawa from
