See also the pages of (B3) WTSP News 2019   and  Letters from Readers Latest communication is shown at the top.

Editor's Note (Toru Nakagawa, Jun. 24, 2019):  I often wonder which arrangement is better, either in the chronological order (i.e., the latest at the bottom) or in the reverse order (i.e., the latest at the top).  I decided to choose the former in this page.  So new information will be added at the bottom, both in the table and in the texts.

Toru Nakagawa ==>  WTSP Members and Invitees     Jul. 6, 2019

Dear WTSP Members, TRIZ leaders/colleagues
I have just updated my Web site: "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" :

[1] Survey (3C) of TRIZ-related Sites in a wider scope with the keywords: Innovation (Process etc) (Toru Nakagawa)

The main theme has been further extended to the hot and big topic of Innovation. For putting stress on its methodological aspects, either one of the keywords Process, Strategy, Method, Management, and Technology is requested in the survey.

The survey outputs many useful Web sites, most of them are not covered with the previous survey results. Among the 207 sites, I evaluated as

◎  Most important  --       3 sites (including 3 L sites),            Note:  L:  Listed already elsewhere
○  Important  -------       36 sites (including 11 L sites),
□  World Catalog   ---    78 sites (including 8 L sites),
△  Country Catalog    -- 70 sites (including 0 L site), and
-  Irrelevant   ------        19 sites.

The sites are shown in the HTML page and in the .docx file. See also the sample description of the ◎ and ○ sites in the HTML page.

Note the evaluations are tentative, and need to be reviewed by people familiar in these wider fields.

Also please note:
(A6-A) Current Working Manuscripts of WTSP Catalogs

(A) WTSP Catalog Manuscripts: by bottom-up approaches shown for each country
(B) WTSP Catalog Manuscripts: by top-down approaches for the whole world, in major languages, in various fields around TRIZ

Manuscripts of the WTSP Catalogs are to be built, reviewed, and revised openly.
Information, suggestions, revisions, etc are welcome. Please communicate with some nearby WTSP members or directly to the Project Leader.

Let's work Together ! Connected !!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes, Toru

Toru Nakagawa  ==>  Readers of THPJ in Japan (about 200 people)   Jul. 8, 2019  (in Japanese)

Dear Readers with interest in the Creative Problem Solving Methodology TRIZ,

I updated my "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" recently, on Jun. 2, 10, 14, 23, 25, 26, and Jul. 6, 7.

I am working hard to promote the WTSP project for building Catalogs of TRIZ-related Web sites in the world.  For working with many people abroad, I have been posting relevant articles in the English pages, whereas I posted yesterday an important article in the Japanese page.  Some of the recent pages on WTSP are:

[1] Summary of WTSP Practice Guide for preparing the World WTSP Catalogs (Toru Nakagawa)
[2] Survey results of the Web sites aroung TRIZ in the world (Toru Nakagawa)
[3] Current state of the Manuscripts of World WTSP Catalogs
               (snip)

I wish you, Japanese users of TRIZ, to join the WTSP project and work together for the further proliferation of TRIZ and related methodologies.
Best wishes,  Toru

Toru Nakagawa ==>  WTSP Members and Invitees     Jul. 15, 2019

Dear WTSP Members and TRIZ Leaders/colleagues,
Hello, how are you? I hope you and your group are fine and busy in various activities, as ever.

We have less than 3 months left before the ETRIA TFC2019 (Oct. 9-11) when we are going to present the World WTSP Catalogs.    Our WTSP activities are much delayed, or even have not started yet, in many countries.

Reflecting the situations myself, I think that many people do not have clear image of the World WTSP Catalogs.
How do they look like? what sort of Web sites are actually shown? how useful are they? how much efforts do we need for preparing them? etc.

So I decided to show examples:
"World WTSP Catalog (Japan Part)" (containing 26 sites) in place of the "Japan WTSP Catalog" which I posted in Apr. last year.
The Catalog is posted in my Web site, in the completed form containing the Index and Descriptions of Sites as a Web page. They are very close to the Manuscripts in Excel and in Word. You can easily understand how they are built.

First preliminary version of "World WTSP Catalogs" will be posted on Aug. 4, 2019, in the form of a completed Web site.
This version will include only the ◎ (Most important) and ○ (Important) sites, using the Manuscripts submitted by Jul. 28, 2019. Please submit the information of highly recommendable sites in your country (or anywhere in the world) in the format specified in our WTSP Practice Guide.

Second preliminary version of "World WTSP Catalogs" will be posted on Sept. 30, 2019, in the form of a completed Web site.
This version will include all the ◎ (Most important), ○ (Important), and □ (Worthy of World Catalog) sites, using the Manuscripts submitted by Sept. 15, 2019.
Please submit your Manuscripts before this due date Sept. 15.

I have just updated my Web site: "TRIZ Home Page in Japan":

[1] Short Summary of WTSP Practice Guide: Practice Guide to Complete the World WTSP Catalogs (Toru Nakagawa) (Jul. 7; Jul. 14, 2019)

Short Summary is posted for the WTSP Practice Guide . Structure of World WTSP Catalogs is shown, and the documents expected from each country as the country part of the WTSP Catalog are described along with the practical preparation process. We cordially invite you to join this voluntary project for promoting TRIZ and related methodologies further in the world.   (Jul. 7, 2019)

-----------
The final form of WTSP Catalogs has been changed from PDF (with links) to HTML (with hyperlinks). See the figure attached here.

Two-step schedule for preparation is announced:

World WTSP Catalog of ◎○ sites (Manuscripts due: Jul. 28, 2019; Posting: Aug. 4, 2019);

World WTSP Catalogs of ◎○□ sites (Manuscripts due: Sept. 15, 2019; Posting: Sept. 30, 2019). (Jul. 14, 2019)

[2] World WTSP Catalogs (Japan Part): WTSP Catalog of TRIZ-related Sites in Japan for the people in the whole world (Toru Nakagawa)

Japan Part of the World WTSP Catalogs has been demonstrated in the new page.
This posting has 3 intentions:

(1) 'The Catalog of TRIZ-related Sites in Japan' posted last year in English was the English translation of 'Japan WTSP Catalogs' for the people in Japan .
Using the WTSP criteria, all the sites are re-evaluated; ◎〇□ sites to be shown in the World WTSP Catalogs (for all the people in the world), while ◎〇□ and △ sites in the Japan WTSP Catalogs (for people in Japan).
This sort of differences in the WTSP criteria between World and Country should be recognized in every country.

(2) The new page demonstrates the manuscripts to be prepared by WTSP Teams in every country (i.e., Index Table of Sites (in .xlsx) and Descriptions of Sites (in .docx)), and at the same time a completed WTSP Catalog as a small Web site (i.e., Index page (in .html) and Descriptions of Sites page (in .html) connected with many hyperlinks).

The final form of the World WTSP Catalog is expected to be the integration of many World WTSP Catalogs (Individual Part) coming from Country Teams and Top-down Surveys. Index Tables of Sites are integrated into a single Index Table in Excel, and it is sorted/re-arranged in Excel to form a suitable Index page in HTML. The 'Descriptions of Sites' files are converted into HTML files and are simply gathered in a folder.

(3) For Completing the World WTSP Catalogs before TFC2019, I am planning the following 2 steps .

(Step 1) Using the manuscripts submitted by Jul. 28, I am going to make a World WTSP Catalog containing the sites ◎〇 only and post it around Aug. 4.

(Step 2) Using the manuscripts submitted by Sept. 15, I am going to make the World WTSP Catalogs containing the sites ◎〇□ and post them around Sept. 30.

I wish many TRIZ colleagues in the world to contribute their WTSP manuscripts by following the WTSP Practice Guide .
The present page illustrates the manuscripts and the prototype of the completed World WTSP Catalogs.

Toru Nakagawa ==> WTSP Global Co-editors; CC/BCC: (possible) Country Editors   Jul. 15, 2019

Dear WTSP Global Co-editors,    CC/BCC (possible) Country Editors

Hello, This morning I sent [WTSP] Letter (12M-1AB) and (12M-1DE) to all the WTSP Members and Invitees (i.e. about 150 persons in total).
I would like to add some more explanation to you:

Our project is much behind the time schedule, without starting effective activities in many countries, to our pity. In principal countries, e.g., USA, Russia, UK, Germany, Korea, etc., Country Editors are not assigned yet.

So we need to re-adjust our strategy of the project.

(1) Our basic strategy was the 'Bottom-up Approach'.
Building Country WTSP Catalogs in every country first, and integrate them to make the World WTSP Catalogs with selected sites from individual countries.
But this strategy puts burdens on possible Members for making thorough Country Catalogs.
Internet surveys in each country outputs information with so much noise.

We should better change our strategy to apply the 20-80 rule: Do the rough but essential work of 20% and get the results of 80%.
So we should better ask WTSP Members and supporters to introduce well-known important sites in their countries, without trying to list up many sites.

(2) We need to show the rough (20%) image of the World WTSP Catalogs to all the WTSP Members as soon as possible.
So I have chosen the time schedule:

Manuscripts submission: Jul. 28, 2019 (Sunday)
Completion/posting (by Nakagawa): Aug. 4, 2019 (Sunday)
We request the Manuscripts of the ◎〇 sites only.
◎: Most important sites (about top 30 in the world including the sites around TRIZ)
〇: Important sites (about top 100 sites)
I myself is going to contribute the results of my Top-down Internet surveys.

I am afraid that many countries will not be able to submit effective manuscripts. Thus the First preliminary version may be poor in its quality at this stage.
I myself will learn a lot how to integrate many manuscripts from countries into the World Catalog.

(3) But we have second (and last) chance: Second Preliminary version of World WTSP Catalogs:

Manuscripts submission: Sept. 15, 2019 (Sunday)
Completion/posting (by Nakagawa): Sept. 30, 2019 (Monday)
Including the ◎〇□ sites.

If things go well, we are going to include about 300 or more sites in the World Catalog.

(4) We should ask the WTSP Teams in each country to make their Manuscripts well organized in accordance with the formats and tested thoroughly for their hyperlinks.

For such a work each WTSP Team should have a good coordinator (i.e., Country Editor) and a technical supporting staff.
Thus I am going to work on my PC and my own Web site, without using Bitrix24, because it's much easier and effective for my own work.

Anyway our WTSP project is on a tight rope, for building the World WTSP Catalogs of useful quality. Please encourage many people around you to build the World WTSP Catalogs including various good Web sites around them.

Please contribute to the WTSP project for its success in establishing useful World WTSP Catalogs of TRIZ-related Web sites.

Best wishes,    Sincerely, Toru

PS: If you have not submitted the WTSP Membership Application Form yet, please download it at my Web site and send it to me.

Simon Litviin (USA) ==> Toru Nakagawa, WTSP Global Co-editors, Counry Editors  Jul. 17, 2019

Dear Toru, Thank you for your thoughtful letter.
I completely agree with your suggestion regarding the "80-20 approach".
We all should understand that WTSP program is not of highest priority even for WTSP members.
There is an old English saying - "A feather in the hand is better than a bird in the air".
It is better to get some catalog of TRIZ sites than no catalog at all.
After that the new task will be to update and edit the initial version of the catalog.

By the way, we used this tactics in the past when developed the document "TRIZ Body of Knowledge" describing the TRIZ core approaches and tools.
We (four co-authors TRIZ Masters - S.Litvin, M.Rubin, V.Petrov, and V.Fey) first created the draft document and then edited it within next several months.

Good luck to all of us in addressing this challenging task.
Best regards, Simon

Posting in LinkedIn (on July 18, 2019): World WTSP Catalog (Japan Part) is demonstrated with 26 sites.

World WTSP Catalog (Japan Part) is demonstrated with 26 sites.
First preliminary version of World WTSP Catalog will be shown on Aug. 4, 2019.

Since my last posting here on Jun. 14, our WTSP project is under its way to build the World Catalogs of TRIZ-related Web sites in the world. See detail in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan"

(a) World WTSP Catalog (Japan Part) has been made in accordance to the final structure of our World WTSP Catalogs. It is re-structured from Japan WTSP Catalog made and posted in April last year.

The former criteria of 'importance for Japanese people' is now replaced with the WTSP criteria of 'importance for all the people in the world'. By re-evaluating all the 92 sites in Japan WTSP Catalog, selected 26 sites are included in the World WTSP Catalogs (Japan Part).

The new Catalog is made from a 'Table of Sites' file (.xlsx) and a 'Descriptions of Sites' file (.docx). The two files are converted into the Index page (.html) and Descriptions of Sites page (.html), having many hyperlinks for connecting the file description to the index item.

This structure has a merit that many 'Table of Sites' files coming from various countries can be integrated into a single Excel table which may be sorted/rearranged easily to form Indexes of sites for various purposes and that the descriptions of sites files may be used without any change in their contents and hyperlinks.

In these senses, World WTSP Catalog (Japan Part) is a real demonstration of the coming World WTSP Catalogs which will cover a few hundred of Web sites in the world.

(b) Internet surveys for the Web sites around TRIZ in the whole world are carried out.

We have done 3 cases of surveys, using the keywords such as (3A2) Creative Think Method; (3B) Creative Problem Solve Method; (3C) Innovation (Process/Strategy/ etc.).  Getting about 200 sites each, we have visited the sites one by one and evaluated them tentatively.

We use rough criteria: ◎ Most important (about top 30), ○ Important (about top 100), □ Worthy of World, △ Worthy of Country, and - No Catalog. World WTSP Catalogs should contain the sites evaluated as ◎〇□, while Country WTSP Catalogs should contain the ones evaluated as ◎〇□ and △.

Surveys with some more different keywords are also planned.

(c) We have obtained preliminary manuscripts from a few countries, including Malaysia, China, and Russia.

But WTSP activities in many countries are much delayed, to our pity. Getting voluntary members, assigning Country Editors, and starting actual work of listing and introducing Web sites one by one meet difficulties, mostly because TRIZ colleagues are working actively and very busy.

Reflecting the current situations, I have found 2 weak points. Firstly, we have not shown the concrete image of the final World WTSP Catalogs yet. Secondly, our original Bottom-up approach combined with Internet search seems to put too much burdens on the members.

Thus, instead of trying to list up Web sites thoroughly, we should better apply the '20-80 Principle', that is 'Do the rough but essential 20 % of work to get 80 % of results'. Such a new direction is expressed in our recent 'WTSP Practice Guide' more or less, but we should better apply the '20-80 Principle' more explicitly. For example, we should list up well-known sites with evaluation ◎and 〇 first, and add those □ and △ later.

(d) We have now set the following plans with time line with the new approach:

First preliminary version of World WTSP Catalogs containing ◎〇 sites only: Manuscripts submission: Jul. 28, 2019 (Sunday); Completion/posting (by Nakagawa): Aug. 4, 2019 (Sunday)

Second preliminary (and final) version of World WTSP Catalogs containing ◎〇□ sites:   Manuscripts submission: Sept. 15, 2019 (Sunday);  Completion/posting (by Nakagawa): Sept. 30, 2019 (Monday)

Please contribute your information/thoughts in the form of these manuscripts through your nearby WTSP Members or directly to me.

We are going to report the First (2019) Edition of the World WTSP Catalogs at the ETRIA TFC2019 (on Oct. 9-11, 2019, at Marrakech, Morocco).

Let's work Together ! Connected !!
Best wishes,  Toru

"TRIZ Home Page in Japan" Updated (Jul. 25, 2019)

Updated:  WTSP Mails and Letters: Jun. 2019
Updated:  (A6-A) Current Working Manuscripts of WTSP Catalogs
Short Summary of WTSP Practice Guide (Toru Nakagawa)
Survey (3C) of TRIZ-related Sites in a wider scope with the keywords: Innovation (Process OR Strategy OR ...)  (Toru Nakagawa)

[WTSP] Letter (12C-2ru) Manuscripts of World WTSP Catalogs (Russian-language Part)

Toru Nakagawa ==>  WTSP Members and TRIZ Colleagues, especially Russian-speaking 46 people     Jul. 25, 2019

Dear WTSP Members and TRIZ Colleagues, especially Russian-speaking people
Hello, I hope you and your groups are fine and working actively, and also enjoying summer.

I have received an email yesterday from Michael Orloff and much impressed with the 'Index Table of Sites' of Russian language Web sites for the preparation of World TRIZ-related sites Catalogs.

(1) In the World TRIZ Sites Project (WTSP), we are going to build catalogs of TRIZ related sites in the whole world and introduce rich and useful web sites in various countries to all the people interested in TRIZ in the world.
The present list of Russian language TRIZ sites are really nice and will make the World WTSP Catalogs useful and meaningful.
The present table has been compiled by Michael Orloff with much efforts, and with some help by Nikolay Shpakovsky. We thank them much for their efforts.

(2) We are going to make 'Descriptions of Sites', which introduce the nature and contents of individual sites in some more detail.
Our WTSP Catalogs is built in the form of a small Web site, where we have an Index page (of hundreds of sites, in a table slightly simpler than the present 'Index Table') and many 'Descriptions of Sites' pages contributed by many countries. And by clicking a site in the Index page we can see the description of the site (by virtue of the hyperlinks).
This structure allows us to make multiple Index pages of different ways of arranging the sites and to make the revisions and updates of sites (by various WTSP Teams in the world) acceptable without difficulty.
A standard format of site description and instructions especially on the categorizations about 'Role of site' etc. are prepared and posted in our WTSP Web site inside "TRIZ Home Page in Japan".
We wish you, especially site owners, to help describing such introductions. Introducing individual sites may be easy for the site owners, but is much more difficult for others not involved in the site.
Requests and instructions will be sent to you later by Michael Orloff.

(3) Our WTSP project is operated on a voluntary basis.
We wish some of you join WTSP as a Member and work for building and promoting the WTSP Catalgos. Description of individual sites may be written by site owners, either a Member or a non-Member Contributor.
But handling them to make a Web page with hyperlinks and coordinating many people need much work to be done by WTSP Members or WTSP Country/Region Editors.
Currently we have only 3 WTSP Members in Russia and 1 in Ukraine.
Here I have to explain you about the Regional Editors of Russian Region, or Russian-speaking countries (or people).
Michael Orloff (Germany) is one of 5 WTSP Global Co-editors and serves as a Region Editor of Russian Region since Mar. 16, 2019.
I once showed Alexandr Shmonov as a WTSP Member and Region Editor of Russian Region, according to his voluntary Membership Application on Nov. 15, 2018. But two days ago we excluded him from WTSP project after noticing that he is not really involved in TRIZ. This is an exceptional decision for us recognizing our mistake of accepting him without checking.
We wish we can have one or two volunteers to become Region Editor of Russian Region jointly working with Michael Orloff. If you wish, please send email to Toru Nakagawa, Michael Orloff, and Simon Litvin (or either one of the three).

(4) Our plan of preparing for the World WTSP Catalogs are:
(A) First Preliminary version of World WTSP Catalog: Containing sites evaluated as ◎○ only.
         Manuscripts due: Jul. 28, 2019; Completion/Posting: Aug. 4, 2019;
(B) Second (and last) Preliminary version of World WTSP Catalog: Containing sites evaluated as ◎○□.
         Manuscripts due: Sept. 15, 2019; Completion/Posting: Sept. 30, 2019

We eagerly wish your cooperation.
Best wishes, Toru

[2] WTSP New Strategy: New Strategy of the WTSP Project: To Show World WTSP Catalogs Quickly (Toru Nakagawa & 5 Global Co-editors) (Jul. 25, 2019)

This is an excerpt of Section 4 of the preprint of our ETRIA TFC2019 paper.
It is a comprehensive description of our new strategy since the beginning of June as described in the Practice Guide , its Short Summary , WTSP Mails and Letters etc.

Our original strategy was: Bottom-up Approach: Build Country WTSP Catalogs first with many Web sites after thorough survey. Then we build World WTSP Catalogs with selected sites. -- This puts much burden on WTSP members. Hence, WTSP Teams have not started well in almost all countries.

Our new strategy is: Try to show the World WTSP Catalogs quickly, relying on the "20 - 80 % Principle", i.e., "Do rough but essential 20 % efforts and get 80 % results". -- Looking at the image of our final goal in a concrete form, many people will understand the vision clearly and will join us.
This strategy is explained concretely: Structure of World WTSP Catalogs, Japan Part of World WTSP Catalogs as an example, Practice Guide, and Plans.

Michael Orloff contributed a manuscript of 'Index Tables of Sites' containing 35 Russian-language TRIZ sites (◎〇□).
The list is really impressive and we can learn a lot of unique approaches and establishments in these Russian-language Web sites. 22 sites of 35 are posted only in Russian and not known well in the world.

Contributions by different countries will surely make the World WTSP Catalogs useful and meaningful.

Let's work Together ! Connected !!

Best wishes, Toru

PS: Various information, such as  "Q&A for making WTSP Catalogs", "Current manuscripts of the WTSP Catalogs", "Update of WTSP Members and Country/Region Editors", and "WTSP Mails and Letters", will be posted from time to time without notice. Please take a look of my Web site from time to time. Thanks.
